Journal of a 7 Day Juice Fast: Day Three

I’m not going to lie people, I’ve had better days….

Last night was not a restful night for me, too bad because sleep is so important during a fast. It’s the time when the body rejuvenates itself and when that is interfered with the whole process of detox get slowed down.

I’m a fairly light sleeper and the toilet in my room kept running….urghh…most frustrating ! I finally gave up around 1:00am and literally read all night to sunrise. My hosts quickly tended to this small irritation the next morning.

Unfortunately the lack of sleep didn’t do much to foster a good, energetic vibe. I’m tired, cranky and yes a bit edgy. I’ll push through this though because I know the really great stuff is coming. If I’m honest with myself I’ve experienced good and bad days with food so having not such a hot day without it is really no big deal.

Heading out for a walk to the beach, something that never fails to put a smile on my face. I’ll have a talk with myself and all will be better.

I’m back and all IS better, a brisk walk near the ocean never fails to give me a refreshed “do-over” feeling. This is going to be a great day despite not feeling my physical best.

While out walking my thoughts went to preparation for a juice fast so as to have the best kind of experience you can possibly have. That encompasses everything from lining up the juice component (critical to have freshly made juices available to you first thing in the morning) to organizing your ‘Elimination Plan’ and of course catering to those other healing modalities we may want to call on such as massage, infra red sauna and reflexology. Spiritually satisfying endeavors such as yoga, journaling, being out in nature and napping also play an important role in elevating your undertaking.

Sometimes it’s the small, well-prepared details that can take a good experience all the way to a transformative one.

I’m off to sleep (I hope), tomorrow will be a great day and I know I will feel so much better after a good night’s sleep.
